Leica M8 - Pure Photography
My first "true" Leica was the M8. A camera from 2006 that lacks every feature a modern camera possesses but, there's something special about it that has pulled me in. Initially, it was the price. Being the cheapest entry into digital M bodies it was a no-brainer to be my starting point. Over my time with the camera, I have formed a bond with the M8 so much that I don't think I could bring myself to sell it. The simplicity of the camera is the main component keeping me attached to it. I used to shoot with a Sony A7Rii and over the 4 years I had with that camera I never used it to its full potential. Having access to all of the features made my experience lackluster and emotionless. There has been an intention to my photos taken with the rangefinder. Less features = Greater meaning The sensor of the M8 produces amazing colors and tones. Yes, the sensor has some age to it, however, this, in my opinion, plays to its strengths.
